Blasts from the Past (and present!)

I had an enjoyable trip down memory lane tonight reading PC World's 25 Worst Tech Products of All Time. Remember the CueCat? The Zip Drive and its "click of death" bug? And everybody's favorite "push" technology, PointCast? Microsoft Bob and ME ("Mistake" Edition)? They're all in here. I don't want to ruin it for you, so you'll have to read the article for yourself. I did in fact own a Timex DataLink watch! I am still having seizures from all those flashing lines on my screen (grin). And I still think I have my CueCat somewhere -- I remember getting it from Wired magazine and thinking I'd won the lottery. Because, as the article points out, it was surely easier to get out a barcode reader and give up my personally-identifiable information while being whisked to web sites that were practically clones of the original ad whose barcode I scanned -- rather than just typing in "www.pepsi.com" or whatever. Those were the days, my friend...we thought they'd never end! [SOUND CUE: Mary Hopkin tune] :)

Couldn't have said it any better...

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

The Message
(I have enjoyed The Message as a great paraphrase of the Bible, but this really hooked me...I've read the "come unto me all you who are weary and heavy-laden" many times, but I'm really ready to recover my life and learn the unforced rhythms of grace). Good stuff...
