(The title probably confused/scandalized Roman Catholics when it came out in 1947 -- but Niven is an Episcopal bishop, so he's allowed to have a wife.) There was a remake in 1996 with Denzel Washington (The Preacher's Wife), but I never heard anything good about that one and never saw it.
